International Symposium on Conceptualizations of Social and Educational Care and Support

The aim of the Symposium is to establish a state of the art concerning different paradigms of care and support by way of theoretical exploration. Further, we would like to unravel how those different concepts, ideas, disciplines, paradigms, … are linked to one another; what is the connection between them, despite an at first sight multiple and confusing terminology? What are similarities and dissimilarities in the contemporary theoretical frameworks of (special) Education and Social Work?

Various national and international experts will be invited to discuss concepts and paradigms that have influenced their work and the way social and educational care and support are organised in their respective countries. They will be asked to reflect on the Symposiums’ theme, based on their personal experiences in their work as "orthopedagoog", psychiater, social worker, milieu-therapist, etc ...
