The European Research Institute in Social Work (ERIS) offers the possibility to Master and PhD Students in Social Work in Europe to present their thesis or work in a real European academic atmosphere and
- to get a feedback on their developing work from social work academics from different European countries
- to exchange views and ideas with other European students
- to extend their knowledge about social work in Europe
- to contribute to a new European research network
Members of the staff will come from the University of Ostrava (CZ), Kuopio (FIN), Eichstaett, Koeln (D) Hertfordshire (UK) and Lille (FR), Trnava (SK), Poland (PL)
Students and academic colleagues who want to present their research results should prepare a 10- 15- minutes ppt presentation based on a 2 pages text in English and submit the text not later than January 31st , 2009 to the ERIS Office:
The areas covered in the presentation should include
i) Title
ii) Aims of the work
iii) Research question/hypothesis
iv) Methodology/theoretical perspectives
v) Results (if available)
The ensuing discussion will be facilitated by one of the academic staff, and consist of a critically evaluative debate which gives ideas for the development of the work.
The course will take place in Ostrava – Poruba

Some presenters will be invited to submit for an online ERIS Journal following review by the Editorial Group.
Accommodation is booked in the hotel part of the Halls of Residence of the Technical University of Ostrava with very good access from the centre of Ostrava. Full board will be provided in the canteen and seminars will take place in the lecture hall on campus.
Each participant will receive detailed pre-arrival information and programme in time.
