The SOCIETY FOR SOCIAL WORK AND RESEARCH is pleased to announce that its Fifteenth Annual Conference "Emerging Horizons for Social Work Research" will convene at the Marriott Tampa Waterside Hotel & Marina on January 12-16, 2011.

The Conference Planning Committee of the Society for Society Work and Research (SSWR) invites submissions for presentations within all content areas of social work, social welfare services, and social policy.

The theme for the 2011 conference is “Emerging Horizons for Social Work Research”. The future of research for members of SSWR involves complex challenges as well as unprecedented opportunities. Social work offers critically important perspectives to research priorities such as narrowing the gaps of translation from science to service, fostering community partnership and infrastructure development, deepening assessment of contextual and place factors, and transdisciplinary collaborations that fuel multi-level discoveries and applications. This annual conference provides researchers interested in a wide range of biopsychosocial, economic, and policy problems and issues with an opportunity to engage around emerging scientific frontiers. Submissions for presentations may include individual paper and poster presentations, organized paper symposia, round-table discussions, and workshops.

As illustrated in the cluster areas, submissions are encouraged across all areas of social work. These may span various forms of research. Preliminary cluster areas are: Adolescents and Youth Development, Aging Services and Gerontology, Child Welfare, Crime and Criminal Justice, Disaster/Hazard, Gender and Ethnicity, Health and Disability, International Social Work and Global Issues, Mental Health, Organizations and Management, Poverty and Social Policy, Research Design and Measurement, Research on Social Work Education, School Social Work, Sexual Orientation, Social Work Practice, Substance Misuse and Addictive Behaviors, and Work, Family, and Family Policy.
