Ubuntu - an alternative operating system
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:37:40 PM »

Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more. It is absolutely free!

Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others', or 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

That is what they say on their homepage. Should be a good operating system for social workers then :D

Ubuntu also has well over 20 000 prebuilt applications which are TOTALLY free and can be installed via few mouse clicks. In the world of Ubuntu, you don't have to pay for anything. :)

Well, you should count some time that you pay for learning how to handle a different OS ;D
