The article "Analysis of an Ethical Dilemma" of Kevin Stanford was published in The New Social Worker and is available for free on
http://www.socialworker.com/digitalmag/fall2008.pdfIt constructs a situation, where an addicted mother had to give away her child and got the chance to see her more easily after she went through a rehab and got her live (obviously) straight. Right before the first appointment, she has a relapse. She asks the social worker not to tell anyone, otherwise her meaning of life (being there for the daughter) would be gone. The article then highlights possible ways to go, including the goods and the bads of each decision.
I never worked in that field (drugs, foster families), so I am not sure, what i would have done in this situation. Anybody out there familiar with things like that? Experiences? Other possible decisions? Thank you for sharing!
